Spectra Group, a leading expert in secure voice, data, and satellite communication systems, proudly announces its entry into the Asian Defence sector. This significant milestone is marked by a substantial order from the Indonesian Army for the acclaimed SlingShot satellite tactical communications system. This collaboration has been facilitated through their partner, PT Mora Armamen Perkasa.
Note: Spectra Group will be showcasing their advanced communication solutions at DSEi23. Visit them at Stand H6-150.
After extensive dialogues with both specialist and regular units of the Indonesian Army, this inaugural purchase will provide KOSTRAD with Manpacks, vehicle integrations, and the SlingShot Tactical Operations Centre systems (STOCS). Additionally, a 2-year contract for the Inmarsat L-TAC service has been secured. This innovative communication tool is set to transform their tactical and strategic communication capabilities, offering swift responses to diverse security challenges on an international scale.
SlingShot, tailored to meet rigorous Special Forces criteria, is now also employed by regular forces worldwide. This tactical radio communications system, distinguished by its low size, weight, and power (SWaP), augments existing UHF and VHF tactical radios. It facilitates strategic communications, ensuring Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) and Communications on the Move (COTM) capabilities without the need for new radio acquisitions.
Utilising Inmarsat’s L-band Tactical Satellite (L-TAC), SlingShot can establish a tactical network spanning thousands of kilometers. It delivers a broad spectrum of tactical and operational network functions, from Command and Control (C2) to GPS tracking and biometric analysis. With greater utility compared to traditional TACSAT, increased and guaranteed channel availability and being plug and play with virtually no training burden, SlingShot has redefined tactical communications.
Cynthia Simarmora, CEO of Mora Armamen, expressed her enthusiasm:
“The extensive global usage of successful trials conducted in Indonesia have paved the way for the realization of this project, The collaborative effort to introduce SlingShot products to the Indonesian Army fills us with great excitement. We look ahead with optimism to the possibility of this being the first of many purchases by the Indonesian Government.”
Simon Davies, CEO of Spectra Group, shared:
“SlingShot has been operationally proven with a wide range of security forces across the world. However, this is the first time we have entered the Asian market and we are extremely excited to be working with Mora Armamen and with KOSTRAD, from the Indonesian Army, and we can see huge potential for the benefits of SlingShot with other key elements of their security forces.”
